Parent Kit doesn't ask you to sign up and doesn't collect your email address. The numbers you type into the calculator, such as your income, your child's date of birth, and your provider's rate, are processed entirely in your own browser and are never sent to, or stored on, any server. Close the tab and they're gone. The site does use a cookieless analytics tool to see how many people visit, and doesn't currently run any advertising. See below for exactly what that means, and what would change if that ever does.
We don't use accounts, sign-ups, or email capture. Nothing you type into a calculator is collected, stored, or sent anywhere. There's nothing to opt out of on that front, because there's nothing being collected.
Parent Kit doesn't currently run any advertising and doesn't set advertising cookies. This section exists so the policy stays accurate if that changes. We're preparing to apply to a display advertising network to help cover hosting costs, and want the groundwork in place before that happens rather than after.
If advertising is enabled in future, this site may use cookies and similar technologies, including third-party cookies set by an ad network and its partners, to serve ads and measure how they perform. Those technologies can use information about your visits to this and other websites to show ads that are more relevant to you.
A cookie consent banner is already in place so that, if and when advertising is switched on, non-essential cookies are only set after you choose to accept them. Rejecting is just as easy as accepting, and nothing is pre-selected for you. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage, not a tracking cookie, so it isn't shared with anyone else and doesn't need its own consent. You can change your mind at any time using “Cookie preferences” in the footer of any page, which clears the stored choice and shows the banner again.
Parent Kit uses Vercel Web Analytics to see roughly how many people visit and which pages they land on. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across other websites, and doesn't build a profile tied to you as an individual. It only reports aggregated, anonymised numbers like page views and top pages. Nothing you type into the calculator is part of this; that still never leaves your browser.
This site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes standard server logs for security and performance purposes: things like your IP address and browser type for each page request. This is routine infrastructure logging, not something Parent Kit itself collects or has access to for tracking individuals. See Vercel's privacy policy for details.
The calculator links to gov.uk and other official resources for further reading. Once you leave Parent Kit, that site's own privacy policy applies, not this one.
If what we collect or use ever changes, this page will be updated to say so plainly, with the date above updated to match.
